About Me

My name is Jodi and I am Girlz Talk Counselling's owner and operator, founded in 2017. I am proudly a Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) - Certified Practicing Registered Counsellor. I completed a Bachelor of Applied Social Science specializing in Counselling and I have now been working in this sector for more than 10 years. I am a trauma-informed counsellor and take trust, safety, choice, collaboration and empowerment very seriously.  I am passionate about supporting Women, ensuring their trust is honoured and dignity is upheld while advocating for them and guiding them through life’s toughest situations.  I am passionate about Women having their voice heard and understood.  I feel privileged to sit with Women while they share their deepest issues and trust me to support and guide them towards a better place, and better circumstances.

I have extensive experience supporting people experiencing suicidal ideation and truly believe there is always another and better way to work through that mind set. I appreciate an opportunity to help people see the light at the end of their tunnel – and that it’s bright.  I have an unconditional positive regard for all people and with this in mind I have guided and supported people suffering with substance misuse and believe if they see the potential for positive change, we can work on that together for beautiful outcomes for them and their family.

I have worked witsome of the strongest, most hard working, most determined, incredibly resilient, ever enduring, toughest and humble Women.  I have seen Women rise from the depths of devastation to living their chosen lives.  I know what Women are capable of and I believe there is always hope, hope to reach their goals and live the life they dream of.

I have been privileged to work in a number of roles supporting Women. I have supported Women and children to safety experiencing imminent risk of serious harm and I have empowered Women to receive the respect they deserve from agencies and services who are there to help. I have facilitated survivors of strangulation support groups with a trauma-informed framework.

This brings us to Girlz Talk Counselling - this is my opportunity to break down some of the barriers for Women attempting to gain access to services, counselling and care by providing a confidential, safe and local service.  I pride myself on a personable caring service and warm welcomes. Girlz Talk Counselling is here to support you and listen to your deepest issues with empathy and compassion. I bring genuine warmth to every session with every woman along with knowledge, some tools to help you and the skills to empower and encourage you to do anything you set your mind to. The wealth of knowledge and experience I’ve gained in my previous roles have brought me here to Girlz Talk where I can provide you with exceptional, holistic and trauma-informed care.
