Suicide Prevention & Intervention

It can be very difficult to know what to do when you are having distressing thoughts about suicide. You may be ashamed to talk about it or worry that people will judge you, or not take you seriously. However, talking to someone in a safe environment of your choice with someone you trust, someone you feel comfortable with - talking about how you are feeling can help. Possible suicidal behaviour can sometimes look like these:

Alcohol or drug misuse

Putting affairs in order

Withdrawal from family and friends

Self-harming

Quitting activities which were previously important

Writing suicide notes or goodbye letters to loved ones

Responding to suicidal warning signs
